#19: Earning Trust with Hard Work
When money ran low—and it often did—Karl didn’t hesitate to take on odd jobs to keep going. He picked up work cleaning gutters, stacking hay, digging fence posts, and carrying bags of cement. In rural communities, he earned respect not by telling stories but by showing up, working hard, and staying humble.

People offered him warm meals or spare boots when they saw the effort he put in. He never expected handouts. His pride was stitched into every chore, every blister. The journey was physical, yes—but it was also deeply human.
