#9: Launching the Expedition from Punta Arenas
On November 1, 1998, Karl Bushby left the southern tip of South America with a pack on his back, boots on his feet, and a plan that seemed too big for reality. Punta Arenas marked the beginning of something monumental: a mission to walk around the world.

There was no film crew. No parade. Just a determined man taking his first step on a 36,000-mile arc toward home. The wind screamed in from the south, chilling his resolve but not breaking it. With each mile, the world unfolded, untamed and indifferent.
