In 1980, the New York Giants selected Scott Brunner from the University of Delaware. By 1981, he stepped in for injured Phil Simms as the starting quarterback, throwing 11 interceptions across six games. Despite reaching the playoffs, credit essentially went to the defense.

Brunner led as the Giants’ starting quarterback into the early 80s, eventually making way for Phil Simms’ return and being traded to the Broncos. His career then saw brief stints with the Packers and Cardinals, concluding in 1985.
